In 1972, several families in Shafter desired to have a church in their community. Missionary Fred Branscrum came to assist in this purpose under the authority of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Oildale.
The Shafter Missionary Baptist Church had 15 charter members who soon (May 1973) purchased the building in which the church continues to meet today at 202 Golden West Avenue.
The church has a great love for missions and missionaries, as well as a desire to see our community won to Jesus. For over 46 years we have seen our church as a place of worship, discipleship, and fellowship together. It is a place to find encouragement when weathering a storm, a place to share life’s blessings, a place to make new friends.
Although we are an independent church, we fellowship with the American Baptist Association and the Cooperative Association of Missionary Baptist Churches of California.
